Recipe of the week: Tortilla chips

All you need is some tortillas and a little bit of oil to make your own tortilla chips at home!

I'll admit, I first made these when I just didn't want to run to the store... we were out of tortilla chips and we needed some to go with our taco salad dinner.

Set out your tortilla of choice- corn or flour. (I think I like flour better at this point, but I may change my mind.)

Spoon or brush a little bit of vegetable or canola oil onto both sides of the tortillas.

Next, cut them into triangles. That's easy- just cut them like you would a pizza.

Next, take all your triangles and lay them onto the baking sheet.

Bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes on each side. Watch them carefully, so they do not get overdone.
Sprinkle with salt, if desired. Then cool and store in an airtight container. Whalaa!! Fresh tortilla chips that are delicious and crisp. Serve with your favorite salsa, beans, taco salad or guacamole. I hope you enjoy this fun recipe!

I never put oil on my tortilla chips. I love the whole wheat flour tortillas, and bake them at 400 for about 7 minutes. Delish and nutrish, esp. without any oil at all. My favorite snack!!!:)

I'm totally sure they taste even better in oil with salt though. Don't get me wrong...:)

You know we've been frying ours in the fry daddy! How interesting to bake them! I will definitely try that. Seems so much healthier!
